Michael Maritz and Maria Englezakis Prior to the event communication to the athletes was done by email and telephonically. The athletes were: Justin Tucker MK Ulrich
The athletes responded at all times, professionally and efficiently. All requests and deadlines were met without hesitation. Monies were paid up in full. The all around enthusiasm of the athletes was great. Sponsorship
Adidas Tracksuits – official SA tracksuits these were white and silver, with the IFBB logo in the front and South Africa on the back. These were sponsored by Michael Maritz and Maria Englezakis. Sling Bags – these were green and gold with embroidery and were sponsored by a client of Michael Maritz. Travelling Snacks – this included biltong, nuts, protein bars, water, and a magazine. This was sponsored by Maria Englezakis. Padded jackets – sponsored by Evox and delivered by Gavin Conlon. Branded black and yellow sweatshirts – sponsored by client of Michael Maritz. Sport bags branded with SA colours sponsored by IFBB and Fitness North West.
Departure to Madrid We arranged to meet with all the athletes at a specific area at O.R. Tambo airport for a quick briefing to hand over the kit and to check in. Another meeting was held in the departure lounge over coffee/meal to explain rules and regulations, and to sign waiver forms. Although the flight was delayed by an hour, the trip was calm and communication between everyone was great. Special food was organised by Michael, this was served, but athletes preferred to stick to their own diet food. Arriving at Madrid Airport
The arrival was well organised. On arrival, we were met by hotel transport (arranged by Michael). After a 40 minute drive we arrived at The Hotel Mayorizgo safely. We were welcomed promptly and had an enjoyable stay. The hotel was situated in the centre of Madrid which made walking/shopping easy. |

And we are also extremely excited to inform you, that two more athletes have applied for their PRO CARDS in the correct way - and IFBB SA has already begun working with these athletes. Though we cannot mention their names at this stage - we are sure that we will be successful in gaining a PRO CARD for each of them !
Further GOOD NEWS for all deserving IFBB ATHLETES this year - we will be scouting for one potential male athlete and one potential female athlete at the IFBB SA NATIONAL CHAMPS (which will be hosted by IFBB KZN in Durban) - to also have the opportunity to automatically work towards their PRO CARD !!

5 new divisions to be introduced to the IFBB SA |
FIVE NEW DIVISIONS TO BE INTRODUCED INTO THE IFBB COMPETITION CALENDAR OVER THE 2010 AND 2011 SEASONS 1. WHEELCHAIR DIVISION This is a completely new division for the IFBB. It was implemented in parts of Europe during the 2009 season, and a division was held at the IFBB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS of the same year. Based on the popularity – it will be implemented as a standard division within the IFBB. THE CRITERIA FOR THIS DIVISION All athletes must be wheelchair based at all times. They may not leave their chair at any time. It is preferable to be in a wheelchair where the back support can fold down to expose most of the back area. INITIALLY THERE WILL ONLY BE TWO ROUNDS FOR THIS DIVISION – HOWEVER AT A LATER STAGE THE THIRD ROUND WILL BE INTRODUCED WHICH IS THE FREE POSING ROUTINE ROUND Read up on the full details for this division in the updated 2010 athletes RULES | 2. BIKINI DIVISION This division has been brought back to the IFBB. It is now also an IFBB INTERNATIONAL division. The Bikini division responds to the increasing worldwide demand for women who prefer to develop a less muscular physique, and have an athletic and aesthetically pleasing bikini body. THIS DIVISION IS FOR THE GIRL WHO HAS THAT PERFECT BEACH TONED BODY. The athlete should present herself in a healthy, fit, athletic looking figure, in an attractively presented total package. She needs to be toned, but with much softer lines and with little body fat. (She needs to look like she can leave the stage and go straight to the beach). THERE ARE TWO ROUNDS FOR THIS DIVISION – WITH NO QUARTER TURNS / NO MANDATORY POSES / AND NO POSING ROUTINES – AND LADIES WILL WEAR THE SAME ATTIRE FOR EACH ROUND Read up on the full details for this division in the updated 2010 athletes RULES | 3. CHILDREN’S FITNESS DIVISION Since the strong belief of the IFBB is that bodybuilding and fitness is a healthy lifestyle followed by millions of people worldwide, and has proved to have so many positive benefits regardless of age – the CHILDREN’S FITNESS DIVISION has been created. For the inaugural year of this division, the first International Champs will be held in Bratislava, Slovakia in July 2010. Affiliated countries to the IFBB will introduce this onto their own calendars in 2010 and 2011. THERE ARE TWO ROUNDS FOR THIS DIVISION – ROUTINE ROUND AND QUARTER TURN ROUND (the requirements will apply to both girls and boys) Read up on the full details for this division in the updated 2010 athletes RULES | 4. ROUTINE WITH PROPS - MEN A new category to be included into the IFBB shows in South Africa. This division will be introduced during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, and will be held on a Provincial level. This is a MEN’S OPEN LINE UP - CONSISTING OF A ROUTINE ROUND WITH THE USE OF PROPS. There are no quarter turns or mandatory poses or comparisons included in this division. There is ONE DIVISION AND ONE ROUND ONLY and there are no height / weight / age limitations. Read up on the full details for this division in the updated 2010 athletes RULES | 5. ROUTINE WITH PROPS – WOMEN Just as for the men - a new category to be included into the IFBB shows in South Africa for the women. This division will be introduced during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, and will be held on a Provincial level. This is a WOMEN’S OPEN LINE UP - CONSISTING OF A ROUTINE ROUND WITH THE USE OF PROPS.
