I’m sure you heard by now that in the final result I placed 8th out of a 20 top class competitor in my line up – Was disappointed at first but in retrospect it was not too bad considering it was my 1st time actually making weight and getting to compete on world stage in this show.
The standard was incredibly high this year, with a record turnout. Some of those European guys are real veterans in the sport, and it was a great feeling to get 3 callouts in the top 15 with such good competition.
More importantly this time I actually made the weight! ;) Whooo hooo! I was stressing over that one (I weighed in very light @ 69,4kg ;0). I felt very weak, dehydrated and depleted, BUT I learned a lot for next time through the process.
Glad to be back home in SA - it was freezing in Spain! Even snowed there on our last day!
Hennie Kotze: "Well, this was my 3rd tour with IFBB and I can only say that it was a privilege as all the other times to be part of the team to represent IFBB SA. I enjoyed every moment of it.
The organization as always was excellent. The hotel where we stayed at perfect. The food exceptional.
With regard to the competition itself. As always from the start to finish (from the President sorting out all of the arrangements before departure to the final farewell banquet at the World Champs itself) it is of the highest standard.
The competition seems to be getting tougher every time I compete at the Worlds, the athletes are just getting better and better, and to say the least always a great learning experience.
I'm proud to be an IFBB athlete, and I know that no other federation can come even close to IFBB."
“At the age of 70 (born July 1939) Fanie du Toit was the oldest man to enter the Masters over 50 Division of the IFBB KZN Open Body Building & Fitness Championships, which was held at the Durban Playhouse on Saturday 22nd August 2009”
BODY BUILDING AND FITNESS IS NO DOUBT AN IDEAL PREVENTATIVE THERAPY FOR ANTI AGING. WHAT AN INSPIRATION TO ALL!!!
The IFBB WP SHAMEEN CLASSIC was held on the 28th March 2009. Elton Horn and Werlou van Tonder were the two winning contestants in the overall line up fighting it out for the number one spot, claiming the title OVERALL WINNER OF THE SHAMEEN CLASSIC 2009. Not to mention walking away with the prize money offered for this show. It was a tight round, with both contestants giving it their all. In the end when all was said and done, and the final results were in - Elton Horn walked away the victor !
Marius Dohne was in Cape Town over this weekend to celebrate his birthday and also to support this well known IFBB WP show. It did’nt take long and his shirt was off ............... We look forward to seeing you on stage at the end of the year Marius !
